Short Brief

Dr. V.Dhanunjana Chari is Dean School of Sciences/an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, School of Sciences at Malla Redd University , Hyderabad.

Completed my doctoral fellow at the Osmania University, Hyderabad (India) in the department of physics and National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR).

My primary research during the doctoral studies is towards understanding the formation of gas hydrates in the presence of sediment and the effect of particle size on the hydrate formation and yield, particularly in Indian aspect. Further, for the first time we have investigated the possible use of hollow silica for storage and transportation of methane gas in the hydrated form. We found that the use of hollow silica (HS) for hydrate synthesis has been increased the hydrate formation kinetics, yield (volumetric and gravimetric) and hydrate thermodynamic stability. Raman spectroscopy is used to characterize the hydrate samples. My future research plans are further to investigate the possible use of hollow silica in other hydrate forming gases and to carry out pilot experiment of use of HS for the transportation of methane gas in the hydrate form. Beyond my research experience (including nine papers to date and others in presentations), I have been fortunate to obtain a wide range of teaching experience (6 years) at graduate level. As curriculum vitae indicate, my teaching roles have included instructor, mentor and academic planner. To my knowledge my thesis is the first Indian thesis on the experimental work on methane hydrates. It’s a great pleasure to inform that I have received gold medal at my master’s level. I actively strive to enhance my progress in the research to learn new techniques and work on different problems.
