22 December is celebrated as a National Mathematics Day in India in the honor of the legendary Indian mathematician, Sri Srinivasa Ramanujan. The Department of Mathematics, Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad organized a celebration on the occasion on 22 December 2021.

About the event
22 December is celebrated as a National Mathematics Day in India in the honor of the legendary Indian mathematician, Sri Srinivasa Ramanujan. The Department of Mathematics, Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad organized a celebration on the occasion on 22 December 2021. The chief guest of this occasion was Prof. T.P. Sasi Kumar, the former Deputy Director at Directorate General of Security, Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi. He enlightened the audience on how the genius Ramanujan constructed theorems based on Vedas. Later, Prof VSK Reddy, Vice-chancellor of MRU, explained the importance of mathematics in the field of engineering and motivated the faculty and students. The eminent deans who also shared the dais briefed the audience on the role of mathematics in our day-to-day life and thus all the sessions were fruitful.
