About Department:

Overview:

The Department of Dialysis Technology at Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad, was established in the year 2024 to provide high-quality education, clinical training, and research in renal replacement therapy and supportive renal care. The Department offers the following programme. Bachelor of Dialysis Technology (B.Sc. Hons), and continuing education modules for working professionals. Our programmes combine competency-based theoretical instruction, extensive hands-on clinical training in modern dialysis units, simulated labs, and community/outreach activities to prepare graduates for safe and effective delivery of renal care.


Scope:

Dialysis Technology is a critical allied-health discipline that supports nephrology teams by operating and maintaining haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis systems, monitoring dialysis prescriptions, ensuring water and dialysate quality, and participating in patient education and infection control. The Department’s curriculum follows national competency frameworks and prepares graduates for employment in hospitals' Nephrology Departments, including dialysis units, ICUs, satellite centres, emergency renal services, biomedical maintenance roles, and device vendor support. With the manufacturer and students to work as a transplant coordinator.

 
Programmes and Affiliation:

The Bachelor of Dialysis Technology programme is affiliated with Malla Reddy University and operates under the academic regulations and syllabi approved by the University and in accordance with the guidelines of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions for Dialysis Technology.


Course Duration:

Bachelor of Dialysis Technology

  • Duration: 4 years

  • Structure:

    • First 3 Years – Academic Study (Theory + Practical + Clinical Postings)

    • Final Year – Compulsory Rotatory Internship in a recognized dialysis centre/hospital

 

(Duration and internship structure are in accordance with NCAHP recommendations for allied health programmes.)

 

Degree Level:

  • Undergraduate Level: Bachelor of Dialysis Technology. These programmes fall under the Allied and Healthcare Professions category.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

 

For the Bachelor of Dialysis Technology.

Candidate must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent

  • Stream: Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB)

  • NEET Appear.

To emerge as a centre of excellence in Dialysis Technology education by producing competent, ethical, and compassionate dialysis professionals who contribute to high-quality renal care, patient safety, and sustainable healthcare systems at the national and global level.



Mission:

1.      To provide competency-based education and clinical training in Dialysis Technology in alignment with the standards prescribed by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions and the University Grants Commission.

2.      To equip students with strong theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and hands-on clinical exposure through modern laboratories, simulated learning, and supervised hospital postings.

3.      To promote patient safety, infection control, and quality assurance practices in dialysis care through evidence-based teaching and standard operating procedures.

4.      To encourage research, innovation, and continuous professional development in dialysis technology and renal replacement therapies.

5.      To inculcate ethical values, professionalism, teamwork, and lifelong learning among students to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare sector.

To engage in community outreach and awareness programmes for prevention and early detection of chronic kidney disease, contributing to public health and social responsibility.
